Eliaison's Symphonies Nos. 3 \u0026amp; 4 and Trombone Concerto! Anders Eliasson was born in 1947 to a working-class family in Borlänge, Dalarna, Sweden. He learned to play the trumpet at the age of nine and soon became a jazz bandleader and arranger. He studied harmony and counterpoint with a local organist, and from 1966 to 1972 he studied composition with Ingvar Readholm and counterpoint with Valdemar Söderholm at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. From 1972, he was a member of the \"Elektronmusik studion\" (EMS) in Stockholm. At the conservatory, he studied various techniques and \"seasonal\" modernism, from twelve-tone technique to musique concrète, but found that he could not \"part with more than a thousand years of tradition\" and that \"music is like water (H2O). In 1992, he received the \"NOMUS (Nordic Music Commission) Award\" for his \"Symphony No. 1\".From 1993 to 1994 he was a visiting professor at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
