Kelly Peterson (Oscar's widow), the guardian of Oscar Peterson's immortal legacy, has tirelessly discovered Peterson's material and founded "Two Lions Records" and in 2017 partnered with Mack Avenue Records to release the best of her discoveries The company has been working on a new project. This is the latest gem from her fourth excellent partnership with Kelly Peterson, recorded on May 26, 1964 at the Theatre Apollo in Lugano, Switzerland, the final performance in Europe, where the trio was on a performance tour at the same time. The trio then traveled to Japan for their first and last concert as "The Trio" at Otemachi Sankei Hall on June 2, 1965, when Peterson was at the height of his powers with Ray Brown and Ed Sigpen in tow.The live performance and the audience response were excellent, as this was the first European tour after the release of such hit albums as "Night Train" (1964 Verve) and "Please Request" (1964 Verve). Starting with "Waltz for Debby," the band played familiar standards with great gusto. The year 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of Peterson's birth. The translucent color vinyl, exclusive to the Black Friday release, will be a valuable addition to your collection.
