Commissioned by the Imperial Ordnance Museum in the U.K., \"Armed Man\" is a work dedicated to the victims of the Kosovo conflict, and is a powerful plea for peace. The ensemble version on this album was conceived by Jenkins as an alternative to the full symphony when it was not possible to perform the entire symphony, and retains the charm of the original work, with its driving rhythms, thunderous climaxes, terrifying moments, and tender, evocative melodies. The original charm of the piece has been retained.Also of note is the participation of Kathryn Rudge, one of Britain's most celebrated mezzo-sopranos, and Jamal Aliyev, a young master cellist from Azerbaijan who was featured as soloist in the 2017 BBC Proms \"John Williams 85th Anniversary Program\" and winner of numerous international competitions!
