From the \"Music of Chopin's Time\" series by NIFC, the independent label of the Polish National Chopin Institute, comes an album featuring Ignacy Feliks Dobrzynski's (1807-1867) Symphony No. 2 \"Characteristic\" as the main work. Dobrzynski was a composer of the same generation as Chopin in Poland under the oppressive rule of Imperial Russia, and was closely connected to Chopin, having studied with Juszef Elsener at the same time in Warsaw. The Violin Concerto No. 2 by Henryk Wieniawski (1835-1880), a masterpiece of the Romantic violin concerto, was recorded simultaneously with the concerto, and was performed at the Wieniawski International Violin Competition (2001), Paganini Moscow International Competition (2004), Sendai International Music Competition ( She has won the first prize at the Paganini Moscow International Violin Competition (2001), the Paganini Moscow International Competition (2004), and the Sendai International Music Competition (2007), and has frequently visited Japan to perform with the NHK Symphony Orchestra (she will perform with the orchestra again in May 2022!). The conductor is Brazilian-born José Maria Florencio (Jr.), who studied conducting at the Warsaw Conservatory before settling in Poland after 1985, where he has served as conductor of the Lodz Grand Theater, music director of the Wrocław Opera House and the Grand Theater of Monuszko, and artistic director of the Polish Radio Choir and the Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra, He has also served as the Permanent Conductor of the Polish National Opera (Warsaw Grand Theatre), and has held other major positions in Poland.
