Elsener founded the Conservatory of Music and was the teacher of two great Polish composers, Chopin and Monieuszko. As he is best known as a composer of Polish operas, it is a pleasure to learn of his chamber music in the Violin Sonata. A contemporary of Chopin, Dobrzynski's style combines elements of Viennese classical and Polish folk music. His most famous work, the \"Piano Concerto\" of 1824, is often discussed for its similarities to the same work by Chopin, but Dobrzynski's work was actually composed earlier. Before Chopin, Dobrzynski was the composer who realized the idea of incorporating Krakowiak, a folk dance piece, into a piano concerto. Noszkowski studied in Berlin, where he studied abroad, and is considered to be the first Polish composer of symphonic works. He was a teacher of Szymanowski and Fiterberg, and was a leading figure of his time, serving as president of the Warsaw Music Society.
