This is the second album by Gerald McChrystal, who plays saxophone and organ from ancient to contemporary music, and is also noted for his excellent arrangements. This is the second album by Gerald McChrystal on this label. The arrangements and selections are as attractive as on his previous album (FHR-13). The title "Solas" means "light" in Gaelic. The music moves freely between baroque and modern, and is performed by soprano, alto, and sopranino saxophone, which are rather scarce on CD recordings. It also works well with organ accompaniment.
