German female pianist Ellie Nye (1882-1968), who made her mark as one of the greatest Beethoven players of the 20th century and whose prewar recording of Sonata No. 32, Op. 111, is considered one of the greatest performances of Beethoven's music, has been reissued by APR on the German Electrola and American Brunswick labels. APR has reissued all of her solo recordings and three concerto recordings for both the German Electrola and American Brunswick labels! Due to her involvement with the Nazis during World War II, including being dubbed the \"Führer's Pianist,\" Elie Nye's postwar career was limited, and it took a long time before she was able to fully redeem herself. The recordings here from 1922 to before the outbreak of World War II are a rare testament to Elie Nye's reputation as an excellent interpreter of Beethoven and other Austro-German repertoire. The good news is that some of the pitch errors in the performances on CD1 and CD2, previously released on the Biddulph label, have been corrected. Mastering Engineer: Andrew Halifax *The sound degradation in the conclusion of Beethoven's \"Piano Sonata No. 4, Op. 7\" is due to the original recording. Please understand beforehand.
