Nathan Williams, frontman of WAVVES, the lo-fi king since 2000, has formed a lo-fi psychedelic band with his brother Joel and his childhood friend and best friend Andrew Caddick (who plays in JEANS WILDER), called SPIRIT CLUB! CLUB)! This is their debut album, released on Nathan's own label, GHOST RAMP! Nathan and his brother Joel have been working together on a hip-hop project called SWEET VALLEY, and released an album as a free download. However, the band plays catchy lo-fi psychedelic music with 60's and 70's psychedelic and soft rock influences, and has a "Pavement, Flaming Lips, and Yo La Tengo" kind of vibe.This album features kaleidoscopic psychedelic pop that resonates with MAC DEMARCO and others, but ultimately veers toward psychedelia, and yet it also includes "Ripped," which explodes with a wall of sound like MY BLOODY VALENTINE, and "Still Life," a lo-fi pop song that is familiar from WAVVES and BEST COAST. The lo-fi pop of "Still Life" is also included, and is perfect for fans of the original WAVVES.
