He is the principal trombonist of the brass ensemble Septura, has been the principal trombonist of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra since 2010, and is a sought-after soloist as well as a mentor for younger musicians at the Royal Academy of Music in London. This second collection is a journey exploring British music of the early 20th century. The album is centered around a selection of three song cycles, all arranged for trombone by Gee. The opening song, Elgar's \"Pictures of the Sea,\" was originally a series of songs for mezzo-soprano and orchestra. It depicts a variety of sea scenes, from a peaceful lullaby to a stormy sea. Vaughan Williams' \"Songs of Travel\" is a song for baritone. It is an episode of a noble traveler's journey. The trombone played by Gee gives a truly singing expression. The final piece, Stanford's \"Song of the Sea,\" is a series of songs with chorus that convey the charm of the sea in clear harmonies.Gee has arranged this piece to be played by a trombone ensemble, and it conveys the full charm of the original.
