Description:
Castelade (1925-2014) was born in Paris in 1926, and his works cover most genres, including stage music, symphonies, and concertos. Many of his works for flute were written for competitions or for educational purposes, and the "12 Exercises" on this album is a prime example. It is evident that Castelade himself enjoys improving the skills of his players through the use of ingenious melodies and complex rhythms. The other three works were written at a time when Castelade was exploring the combination of flute and other instruments, including the suite "Five Bagatelles," which aptly expresses the subtitle of each piece, "Songs of Solitude," whose slow melody is reminiscent of Bach, and "Four Voices," which incorporates elements of everything from impressionism to jazz. Divertimento," all of which reflect all of Castellade's compositional techniques. Naxos Japan
