Over the past 40 years, he has composed a vast body of work, including three symphonies, more than 100 chamber music pieces, and eight concertos. However, Corigliano reportedly felt nothing short of terror when he first received the commission to compose a “Concerto for Percussion,” because most percussion instruments, unlike violins or trumpets, cannot sustain a note and lack a fixed pitch. Yet the composer overcame this challenge perfectly, employing various ingenious techniques to craft a magnificent work. The music, which features three distinct themes linked by an enchanting cadenza, is a mesmerizing piece truly worthy of the title “The Magician.” “Vocalise” was commissioned by Kurt Masur, then music director of the New York Philharmonic; in response to his request for “a work befitting the millennium,” the composer wrote music that makes use of the diverse sounds of electronic instruments. The fusion of voice, orchestra, and electronic music certainly evokes a new era.\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Naxos","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53595558281505,"sku":"4945604597579","price":19.95,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4945604597579.jpg?v=1790481638","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/it-it\/products\/4945604597579","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
