This ensemble is the smallest form of chamber music work, in which neither instrument dominates, but the two instruments recognize each other's individuality and create a refined harmony. There have been many works written in this form since the Baroque period, but for this album Julia Fischer and Müller-Schott have chosen four works written in the modern era, when tonality was breaking down, and all of them are interesting pieces that explore new means of expression and have a unique style that incorporates national characteristics. They are interesting compositions. The first is Kodaly with its rich folkloric flavor, the second is Schulhoff with its complex rhythms, and the third is Ravel, \"dedicated to the memory of Debussy,\" with a Hungarian sound. And placed last is Halvorsen's \"Passacaglia,\" a free variation on Handel's theme. In addition to the work's virtuosity, the breathtaking interplay between the two players is also a highlight of the concert. Violinist Julia Fischer and cellist Müller-Schott released a recording of Brahms' \"Double Concerto\" in 2005, and have been working as a duo for over 10 years.
