Larry became Eddie's stepson at age 2 when his mother Bella, a blues singer and niece of Eddie Burns and Jimmy Burns, remarried Eddie Taylor, a famous Chicago blues guitarist who had backed Jimmy Reed and others. He grew up with bluesmen around him from an early age and eventually became a drummer.He has played and recorded with many artists including his father, Lurrie Bell, Billy Branch, his uncles Eddie and Jimmy Barnes, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, and John Lee Hookah. His siblings Brenda, Timothy, Demetria, and Eddie Taylor JR also became musicians, and after the death of their father Eddie Taylor in 1988, they became one of Chicago's great blues families. Larry released his first album \"They Were In This House\" in 2004, not only as a drummer but also as a singer.
