Unable to sing for years due to a vocal cord injury, she devised a different musical language and mastered the complex, intimate grammar of ambient music pioneered by Ernest Hood and perfected by The Books. A Chicago-based pianist and composer, she surrendered herself to the emotional potential of pure sound on the two instrumental albums she produced during that time (2020’s *MiaGargaret* and 2023’s *RomanticPiano*). And now, with her physical voice healed and her artistic voice refined, she returns to her roots with *Singing*, her first vocal album since 2018’s *There’s Always Glimmer*.
