The album features 21 instrumental pieces recorded on piano, string ensemble, or a combination of both (and sometimes natural soundscapes). A Song for the Sea was inspired by a scene in which Moominpappa stands by the water's edge and philosophizes about the temperament of the sea.A Song for Winter\" is a song that expresses a scene in which the characters realize that winter is the season for shy and reserved animals and people to flourish. The album is an official collaboration between Lauri Poller and the Moomin Characters. Moomin Characters is a family-owned company that preserves the cultural heritage of author and illustrator Tove Jansson, carefully licensing Moomin stories and illustrations for special projects. The CD will include a booklet linked to the music of the excerpted stories.\n\n\n\n\u003clauri poller\u003e.\n\nLauri Poller is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and curator. In addition to his long-standing collaborations with the Moomin Characters, his musical career has been remarkably diverse. As the great-grandson of Finnish composer Sibelius, he has a deep passion for classical music. His compositions have been performed by renowned orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.He has also toured the world as bassist for the Scandinavian metal band Stratovarius and serves as artistic director of the Vantaa Orchestra.
