A milestone in the history of Cape Verdean music is being reissued for the first time in the world! Sabura Dja Nfrontman" is an album by José Casimiro, one of the leading figures in the electronicization of funana music, and contains many of Cape Verde's killer funk gods. A long-time favorite as a groundbreaking work, the album is notable for the fact that Paulino Vieira, a leading figure in Cape Verdean music, wrote the lyrics for A1 "abura Dja Nfrontam," and all the other songs were composed by José Casimiro himself. It was recorded in Portugal in 1981 by "Ife Discos," which released many of Cape Verde's killer funk and other songs. SABURA RECORDS, a new label based in Lisbon, has decided to reissue this album and MENDES & MENDES "Mendes & Mendes" to promote the culture of lusophony, the heritage of Portuguese-speaking music in the African nation.
