Three years after their stunning self-titled debut album, Caroline has released their second album, "caroline 2", on Rough Trade Records.

The band spent 18 months in the UK for various writing sessions, recording mainly at Big Jelly Studios in Ramsgate. The album was produced by band members Jasper Llewellyn, Casper Hughes, and Mike O'Malley, engineered by Sid Kemp, mixed by Jason Eigel, and mastered by Heba Cadley in New York.

The album opens with a sharp sounding guitar. Then a delayed, slow, low-pitched guitar joins in. Then comes the direct yet boisterous beat of the drums: the three instruments play different rhythms, but intertwine to form a beautifully unbalanced loop. Jasper Llewellyn and Magdalena McLean sing in unison over the interplay, and the swirling sounds beneath them grow in intensity. Trombones, bass clarinets, and harmoniums blend layer after layer into the sound, and the sound is about to reach a critical speed.

Then, as the sharp high notes of the violin try to push everything into the far reaches of space, a huge echo of electronic noise slices everything in half. The overwhelming descent continues for a few seconds, then the aggressive sounds of guitars and drums rise again, the two sounds pushing, pulling, and finally overlapping in mid-air, the two sound worlds moving as one. The opening of "caroline 2" is aptly titled "Total euphoria. The song is exactly what it sounds like.

The song "Tell me I never knew that," featuring Caroline Polachek, an artist who has written songs for Beyoncé and Travis Scott, and whose performance at Fuji Rock Festival '23 is still fresh in our minds, has been released with a music video. The video is a portrait of the artist's childhood in Japan. The video was shot by Caroline Polachek, who spent her childhood in Japan, and the band themselves.

Tracklisting:

1.Total euphoria
2.Song two
3.Tell me I never knew that
4.When I get home (ft.
