(There are several ways to pronounce their name in Japanese, but we will follow their pronunciation here).\n\nTheir fourth Berlin Classics album is a collection of masterpieces of Schubert's late style music for four-handed piano, and the duo performs them in perfect harmony.\n\n\n\nLate Style at 27\n\nSchubert, whose mother's side of the family had a history of mercury poisoning, is believed to have undergone mercury therapy in 1823, at the age of 26, which was popular at the time as a treatment for a variety of conditions.\n\nAs a result of the mercury ointment and other mercury-based therapies administered at the Vienna Municipal Hospital, the 26-year-old Schubert suffered such damage that all the hair on his head fell out, and his depression, a symptom of mercury poisoning, was also confirmed. It is also speculated that mercury poisoning also affects the central nervous system, including sight and hearing, which in Schubert's case led to an unusual stimulation of creativity, which gave rise to his late style.\n\nAfter completing the highly toxic mercury therapy, his health recovered, and the following year, 1824, he was able to write a four-hand piano work for Esterházy's daughters (CD 2), the sonata \"Grand Duo\" and \"Variations on a Creative Theme,\" both of which show excellent results.\n\n\n\nDeath at the age of 31\n\nAfter 1824, Schubert's health was maintained for a while, but in 1827 it deteriorated again. Mercury therapy was resumed, and this time, once the highly toxic treatment was completed, his health improved, and in January 1828, he began the four-hand piano works Fantasy D.940, Fugue D.952, Allegro D.947 \"Storm of Life\" and Rondo D.951 (CD1). He wrote masterpieces that incorporate tremendously deepened musical ideas.\n\nA few months later, in October, he showed symptoms of severe mercury poisoning and died the following November.\n\n\n\n(NPT)\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Berlin Classics","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50299712602401,"sku":"885470030142","price":25.95,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/885470030142.jpg?v=1726343596","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/es-es\/products\/885470030142","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
