The Creation\" is Haydn's masterpiece in both scale and content, inspired by Handel's \"Messiah\" and other great works during his two stays in England in his later years. Using \"Genesis\" and \"Psalms\" from the Old Testament and Milton's \"Paradise Lost\" as its subject matter, the oratorio depicts the seven days of creation in three parts, from the first to the fourth day of creation by God, the fifth and sixth days when creatures appear, and the appearance of Adam and Eve, in chronological order.The work is particularly popular in Europe and the United States because of its straightforwardly Christian worldview, the charm of the animals depicted in an easy-to-understand manner that could be described as painterly, and the fact that the large chorus is mobilized to make the piece a great listening experience.
