Inspired by Kurt Vonnegut's short story "Harrison Bargeron," the title "2081" is the year in which the story is set. All songs were written by John Taylor, and Alex, who writes the lyrics and sings, and Leo, the drummer, are John Taylor's sons. The work is built around John Taylor's family. The theme of Vonnegut's novel is the irony of "a world where all are equal. The novel depicts the great contradictions that exist to maintain equality with an irredeemable gloom and a certain humor, and the John Taylor family's ability to portray this world in a beautifully maddening and mysterious mood is astonishing. The tuba is played by the up-and-coming Oren Marshall, who has played with numerous London-based orchestras, including those of such geniuses as Derek Bailey and Hermeto Pascoal. Originally commissioned as a piece for the Cheltenham Jazz Festival by BBC Radio, which sponsored the festival, the first performance was in 2012. Originally conceived as an octet, it was arranged into a quartet for this recording.

Tracklisting:

1.Doozy
2.2081
3.Empress
4.DMG
5.Deer on the Moon
6.Doozy 2
