C.P.E. Bach left music that always captivates the listener with its enchanting melodies, sudden remote modulations, and unexpected departures from fluid expression reminiscent of the written word. The Hamburg Symphony was commissioned by Baron Gottfried van Swieten, the Austrian ambassador to Hamburg, when C.P.E. Bach was appointed music director of the city's cantors and five large churches. It demonstrates a \"subversive\" musical style through extreme contrasts, and is still performed by many groups today because of its richness of ideas, virtuosity, and sharpness of composition. Arte dei Suonatori, led by Sivion Tokievich, gives an electrifying performance with a minimal string orchestra that will leave the listener in a state of shock. (King International) Contents C.P.E.
