He was the leader of the Norwegian band VANESSA, which released two high-quality jazz-rock albums in the mid-70s, ranging from crossover to Canterbury/R.I.O., and his "Windshave" (1989) is widely known among experimental/ Balearic music enthusiasts. Composer/lead player,Svend Undseth's first solo album on NorDisc is now available on CD for the first time in '24 from Norske Albumklassikere in Norway! Unlike the jazz-rock style of VANESSA, this album is based on his own multiple performances, making full use of saxophone/guitar/flute/synths and other instruments,The experimental electronic music approximates the German experimental music of the early 70's and LARD FREE, which was rare in the Norwegian music scene at that time.Hold On" is a rather familiar track in this album, with its relentless hammer beat, synths, and a devastating soprano saxophone running freely in all directions, and "Voyage," as the song title suggests, is a trip to Svend's voice, which is covered with excessive effects in the empty, cosmic sound space. The "Voyage" is a song that will trip you up, as the title suggests,Full of songs that are sure to stimulate the untapped areas of the listener's brain! The original LP has long since become a rarity, so this is a welcome reissue! The master is based on the original analog master tape, newly remastered by Svend Undseth himself.
