This work seamlessly connects the past (tradition) and present of jazz (piano). The members are Russell Hall and Kyle Poole, the current regular members. The title of the album is \"Stride,\" and it opens with a piece that Satchmo recorded with the Carroll Dickerson Orchestra in the 1920s, with its light and flamboyant dancing stride pianos. However, as the title \"Future \"Stride\" suggests, this work shows an eye toward the future through the sensibility of a contemporary artist.The title track, \"Dardanelle,\" a classic number composed in 1919, is an amalgam of a glamorous Harlem mood, four-beat swing, and the modern counterpoint approach pioneered by Fred Hirsch and Brad Meldow.
