Description:
First new album in 5 years from the Brazilian legend! Modern disco boogie with co-writing with Leon Ware! Marcos made his debut as a bossa nova artist, but he has been diversifying his repertoire: in the 70's he released "Previsao Do Tempo" (1973), a groovy mellow fusion with Azimuth in the background, in the early 80's he approached disco and AOR type sounds, and in the 90's he released his first album, "Bossa Nova" (1973), a modern disco boogie album co-written with Leon Ware, In the 1990s, he released the album "Nova Bossa Nova" in response to the worldwide bossa nova and club jazz boom. Each of these albums has been highly acclaimed. Marcos' latest album, "Tunel Acustico" (2024), released on the well-known FAR OUT label, is his first studio album in five years since his last album, "Sempli" (2019), a modern update of his disco - AOR sound. As before, the album is arranged and produced by Daniel Mornick (with Marcos himself as co-producer/arranger). The highlight of the album is "Feels So Good," co-written with Leon Ware. The song is based on a demo recorded in 1979, and during the production of this album, the producer, Daniel Moenic, liked it so much that he decided to include it on the album. The original Portuguese lyrics were newly inserted. Keyboards and percussion were added to give the song a modern sound. The single "Life Is What It Is," co-written with Chicago's Laudir de Oliveira, was released as the first single, and is a self-cover of a song that was once released under the name Chicago. The final song is "Thank You Burt (For Bacharach)," a tribute to Burt Bacharach, who sadly passed away last year. Other guests include Joyce, Seu, Moreno Veloso, and others. This album follows on from the well-received previous album, Sempli (2019). It includes a song co-written by Leon Ware and a self-cover of a song he wrote for Chicago, and is a must-have for those who are inspired by the disco-AOR sound of "Vontade de Rever Voce" (1981) and its ilk. Marcos is 80(!) years old. Marcos is 80(!) years old, but his quality has not yet diminished. This is a superb Brazilian pop album that I recommend to all music lovers, not to mention Brazilian music fans, disco and soul fans.
