In the late 1970s, his musical style shifted toward a sound with stronger jazz and fusion elements than traditional blues. For this project, he formed \u003cjack bruce friends\u003e with a lineup of heavyweights: Clem Clempson (g), formerly of Colosseum and Humble Pie; Billy Cobham (ds), one of the top jazz drummers who played with the Miles Davis Group and the Mahavishnu Orchestra; and David Sanchous (keyboards), who had toured with major artists such as Sting and Bruce Springsteen, to form “Jack Bruce \u0026amp; Friends” and produce the album *I’ve Always Wanted to Do This*. They then embarked on a 50-show tour spanning Germany, the UK, and the US. During this tour, the concert held in Germany on October 18 was recorded and broadcast as a special television and radio program.
