Backing him up was a strong rhythm section, including Mark Johnson on bass (formerly of the Bill Evans Trio) and Danny Gottlieb on drums (formerly of the Pat Metheny Group, Elements, and Mahavishnu Orchestra), which reaffirmed Lyle Mays's ability as a jazz pianist.
