His orchestral and chamber music activities as a soloist as well as principal of the Vienna Philharmonic have attracted much attention, and he has recorded a masterpiece of flute quartet music with the most ideal members available today. The first female concertmaster Danailova, principal viola player Lee, and principal cello player Varga are all in a splendid lineup, playing Mozart with the soft tone and elegance of a virtuoso player of the Vienna Philharmonic. At last, a definitive recording for a new era has been born! ＜Karl-Heinz Schütz has been the principal flutist of the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra since 2011, and has been teaching flute at the Conservatorium of Private Music in Vienna since September 2005. He was Principal Flute of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra from 2005 to 2011 and of the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra from 2000 to 2004.　He studied with Eva Amsler in Feldkirch (Austria), Aurelle Nicolet in Basel (Switzerland), and Philippe Bernold at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon (France).　As a soloist, he has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Academy Chamber Orchestra, and the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Daniel Barenboim, Fabio Luisi, Yakov Kreizberg, Sir Neville Marriner, and others. As a student, he won the Carl Nielsen International Flute Competition (1998) and the Krakow International Flute Competition (1999).　He is also an avid chamber musician, playing with the Ensemble Wien-Berlin and the Vienna Ring Ensemble, which he joined after Wolfgang Schulze.
