Around 1700, Prague was a major center of European culture along with Vienna and Dresden. The works of Count Jan Antonin Rozy, who came from an aristocratic Swiss family, supported many lute players in the Prague area, and on his death, S.L. Weiss, the greatest lute prodigy of the time, came to the city to dedicate the Tombow piece to him, and the lute players who surrounded him.The collection includes a suite of beautiful melodies by Aureus Dix from the Prague National Library, a suite by Logie with sarabande and doble from a manuscript in Austria added to a suite from a manuscript in Germany, a suite of unknown authorship from the National Library of Argentina in South America, and a suite by Antony Eckstein, compiled from a manuscript in the New York Public Library.
