The up-and-coming young conductor of classical music, Raphael Pichon, makes his Vienna Philharmonic debut as a conductor at the Salzburg Festival in 2023. The program is a new production of "The Marriage of Figaro" by Martin Kuschey, an up-and-coming Austrian theater director who has directed plays at the Burgtheater and other theaters. The Marriage of Figaro, the first of the "Da Ponte Trilogy," is set in the 19th century in Seville, Spain. It is set in the 19th century in Seville, Spain. Figaro and his lover Susanna, who works at the Count Almaviva's mansion, are about to be happily married, but the play describes the commotion that occurs on their wedding day. Although the play depicts many characters and complicated human relationships, we are drawn into the cleverly developed drama by the excellent script by Da Ponte and the wonderful music by Mozart that vividly depicts the emotions of the characters.Kushay's masterpiece of love and jealousy, which has been performed around the world, is set in the world of the Mafia, where a gunfight ensues. Raphaël Pichon, described as "an expert in original sound" (Der Tagesspiegel), makes his Vienna Philharmonic debut in this production, and is widely acclaimed for his highly accomplished musicality. Kushay's direction is musical and Pichon's conducting is theatrical. The collaboration between the two is at an unusually high level and to maximum effect. Every detail is carefully thought out, and the synergy is breathtaking. The singers, too, include French diva Sabine Devielle, who sings in the "Count Almaviva," baritone Andrea Desendre, a baroque mezzo diva, and Guatemalan Adriana Gonzalez, who sings the Count Almaviva, The baritone André Schuen, who sings the role of Count Almaviva, has been praised as having a "perfectly wonderful voice" (Hamburger Abendblatt). .......
