The main part of the album is a collection of pieces written by seven contemporary composers based on the melody of the Swedish folklore piece \"Visa fran Utanmyra: The View from Utanmyra.\" Each piece is less than five minutes long, but each composer's individuality is brought to bear on the piece and makes for a rewarding listening experience. The album ends with an alternate version of the finale to \"Appalachian Spring. This is another interesting selection. The Vesterås Sinfonietta was founded in 1883 and currently has 33 members. The orchestra attracts a large audience with its wide range of activities, including regular concerts and concerts for children and young people.
