The Arpeggione Sonata was written for Schuster, a famous Viennese guitarist and arpeggione player.Schubert wrote this music to bring out the virtuosity of his virtuoso player and the charm of his instrument to the fullest. The third movement is in a rondo form and requires staccato, pizzicato, leaps, etc., and is frequently performed on the cello.
