The two works by Ersan and Eskesch ask us to reflect on what modernity means for us today. While it is easy to set modernism in opposition to traditionalism, we must also consider the distinction between the composer's personality and approach. Les Vents Francais, a super wind ensemble of elite musicians, has focused on works from the classical to the modern era, and these evolving works are featured in this concert. Pursuing a high level of musicianship as a contemporary music field, the wind ensemble has succeeded in bringing out the sound of a wind ensemble that has discovered the possibilities of diverse modernism, far beyond the imagination.
