This is the second album from the one-of-a-kind spiritual voice of Liz Wright, her first with Concord in two years since 2015's Freedom & Surrender. This ambitious, Southern-inspired work was produced by renowned Americana music producer Joe Henry. With the exception of one song co-written by Liz Wright and Meyer Sharp, the album is composed of cover songs not only by Alan Toussaint, Bob Dylan, and Ray Charles, but also by Rose Cousins and Birds of Chicago, who are currently the focus of attention in the US. The musicians on this album are superb: Kenny Banks Sr (p), Marc Ribeau (g), David Pilch (b), Chris Bruce (g), Marvin Sewell (g), Jay Bellows (ds), Patrick Warren (key), and others.
