Here are Schmelzer and Biber, who were active mainly in Austria; Johann Christoph Bach, who gained great fame during his lifetime; Johann Michael Bach, his brother and father of Maria Barbara, the great Bach's ex-wife; and Froberger, an important composer of keyboard music who studied with Frescobaldi, The album includes works with the character of lamento by Bernhard Schütz's disciples in Dresden, who later moved to Hamburg and left behind much church music. For this album, Café Zimmermann invited longtime collaborator Damien Guillon, who sings not only with a quiet expression but also with a lively, sometimes rippling movement, creating a beautiful and crisp album. This diverse program also includes solos by two of the group's central figures, Barletti and Frisch, respectively.
