Included are César Franck's Symphony in D minor and an orchestral suite from the incidental music to the play \"Pelléas et Mélisande\" by the great composer Gabriel Fauré, who will celebrate the centenary of his death in 2024.Barenboim first recorded this Franck symphony with the Orchestre de Paris for Deutsche Grammophon almost fifty years ago, and now he is performing it anew with the Berlin Philharmonic. The emphasis is on the opulent, monumental sound of the symphony, especially in the two end movements, which emphasize the hymn-like aspect of this symphony that combines Beethoven's spirit and French elegance. A longstanding friendship also exists between the perfectly matched Barenboim and the Berlin Philharmonic. The Philharmonie in Berlin, where this recording was made, is also where Barenboim made his debut as a pianist 60 years ago, conducting his first concert with this world-class orchestra in 1969. The recording also features Albrecht Mayer (oboe), Emmanuelle Payu (flute), and Dominique Vollenweber (cor anglais).\n\n\n\nBorn in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1942, Barenboim is a Russian Jew who began playing the piano at age 5, made his debut as a pianist at age 7, and immigrated to Israel in 1952.At the age of 11, Furtwängler called him a \"genius,\" and he went on to a spectacular career as a pianist and conductor.\n\n\n\nDigipak edition.\n\n\n\n(UNIVERSAL MUSIC\/IMS)\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Dgg (Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft)","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50383365079329,"sku":"28948660087","price":1047.0,"currency_code":"UYU","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/28948660087.jpg?v=1727682363","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-uy\/products\/28948660087","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
