The Complete Plugged Nickel Live 1965\", a legendary live session capturing the turning point of the \"Second Golden Quintet\", has been reissued in a long-awaited 10-LP box set. This show, which began in December 1965 at Chicago's Plugged Nickel Cafe, was the proving ground for the second Golden Quintet as it forged its own identity. Miles, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams presented a master class in risk and creativity, deconstructing and improvising on familiar tunes. At the time, free jazz was on the rise in the surrounding jazz scene, and the younger members of the band, with the exception of Miles, played more free jazz-oriented music on stage after Miles' solo, and then returned to their original playing when Miles started playing again. The performance is highly tense. Producer Theo Macero recorded all seven performances on December 22 and 23, and although portions of the recordings were released in the 1970s and 1980s, it was not until the early 1990s that the full seven and a half hours of revelatory music was revealed. This \"legacy\" was quickly hailed as one of the greatest live jazz recordings of all time, earning the prestigious \"Crown\" from Penguin Jazz Guide magazine. Now, 30 years later, and 60 years after the performance itself, longtime fans finally have their long-awaited reissue, and new fans have the chance to own one of the most mythical performances in jazz history. This new 10 LP set faithfully recreates the original sequence. Cut from Mosaic's high-resolution master recordings and pressed on 140g black vinyl. Each LP is housed in a newly designed jacket in a gold foil stamped slipcase box.The 44-page 12\" x 12\" Smyth Sewn booklet features rare photos of Plugged Nickel, detailed liner notes and track-by-track commentary by Sid Schwartz, and an original essay by Bob Blumensaul.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Legacy Recordings","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51985430249761,"sku":"198029412413","price":11159.0,"currency_code":"UYU","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/198029412413.jpg?v=1762545403","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-uy\/products\/198029412413","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
