The classic album "Ostinato," which captures the early years of the leading Italian trumpet player Paolo Frès, has finally been re-pressed! The perfectly polished playing of today is a great attraction, but the sometimes rough-and-tumble approach of this period is also a great appeal of Paolo's music. The 23-year-old Paolo was surrounded by an elite group of musicians essential to Italian jazz, including Tino Traccana and Attilo Zanci. With a supple approach, the band nimbly plays everything from Thelonious Monk's "Round Midnight" to Paolo's original compositions.
