Ella Fitzgerald is still loved by many fans as one of the most famous jazz vocalists of the 20th century, and following the previously unreleased live recording from Berlin in 1962 "Ella - The Lost Berlin Tapes" (UCCV-1182) and the previously unreleased live recording from 1958 "Ella at the Hollywood Bowl: Irving Berlin Songbook" (UCCV-1192), the album was released in 1969 at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Following the previously unreleased live recording "Ella at the Hollywood Bowl: The Irving Berlin Songbook" (UCCV-1192) from Berlin in 1962 and the previously unreleased live recording from Montreux Jazz Festival in 1958, this is the first time that the album has been released in audio format, although it was released on DVD in 2005. This is the first release in audio format. This album captures Ella's first appearance at the famous Montreux Jazz Festival, which was followed by four more trips to the Montreux Jazz Festival. In addition to standards, this dynamic and enjoyable live work features hits from the 60s such as The Beatles, Cream, and Bacharach, backed by the Tommy Flanagan Trio. (C)RS
