This is the only complete collection of six symphonies by Ikuma Dan, one of Japan's leading symphonists, 20 years after his death. Ikuma Dan (1924-2001) studied under Kosaku Yamada and Saburo Moroi, and composed a wide range of music from the opera "Yuzuru" to children's songs (elephant, goat, bottle, etc.). This is the only complete collection of Ikuma Dan's six symphonies that traces the transition of his works from his Symphony No. 1, which won the first prize in NHK's 25th Anniversary Symphony Competition in 1950, to Symphony No. 6 "HIROSHIMA", which was composed for the Hiroshima Peace Concert in 1985, to the 40th anniversary of the atomic bombing.
