This is the final Blue Note album by the gifted saxophonist George Brace. This album is avant-garde in style, but also reveals Brace's lyrical musicality. Grant Green and Billy Gardner, who also participated in the previous two albums, provide excellent support. All but one of the songs on the album are originals, including the swingy three-beat "Nut City. The band also gives a dubious performance on "Every Time We Say Goodbye," using their signature technique of simultaneously playing multiple wind instruments. (C)RS
