The 2024 release of “Symphonies Nos. 6 \u0026amp; 9” (XSIGCD877\/SIGCD877) was named a “Recommended Recording” by Record Geijutsu magazine, and received five stars from the UK’s Musical Opinion Classical Music Magazine. The following year’s “Symphonies Nos. 10” (XSIGCD889\/SIGCD889) was also featured in Record Geijutsu’s “Recommended Record” section, as well as the Asahi Shimbun’s “for your Collection” and Braavo’s “New Release Selection,” generating significant buzz.\nSymphony No. 1 was composed between 1924 and 1925 as Shostakovich’s graduation project at the Leningrad Conservatory. It was a resounding success from its premiere and served as the breakthrough work that marked his first step toward becoming “the greatest symphonist of the 20th century.” The B-side features a suite from his only operetta, *Moscow, Cheryomushki (Cheryomushka)*.
