Since 2011, Berlinskaya and Ansell have collaborated on a number of "Original Works for Two Pianos" series, and their third new album is a collection of 20th century British music. The "B" in the album title not only stands for Britain, but also for the fact that the initials of all the composers on this album are B. Bax, whose romantic and mysterious style incorporates Celtic elements, is considered one of the pioneers of the modern British musical renaissance; Bowen, who has been called the "British Rachmaninoff" in recent years; Britten, who is well known among British composers and was himself a skillful performer; and Bachs, who is also known for his film music and jazz performances. This is a fascinating disc of beautiful and dramatic performances of selected works from the unique perspective of "the history of British music on two pianos," including works by Bowen, "Britain's Rachmaninoff," who has been reevaluated in recent years; Britten, a well-known British composer who was also a skilled performer; and Bennett, a famous film music and jazz performer who received three Oscar nominations.
