Description:

Previously unreleased live studio version left on Granada TV in the UK! The 7 O'Clock News/Kiyoshi-Kono Yoru" is a live reproduction of the album version with news reading and ensemble performance! The Sound of Silence" and "Song of the 59th Street Bridge". This is the most important live performance of the folk duo's era, recorded in Manchester, England at the height of their popularity after the release of their masterpiece "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme" in 1966. Previously unreleased live! Recorded by Granada TV in March 1967 at their Manchester studio and broadcast on May 2, 1967, this is a rare performance that was never known, including the fact that it was broadcast, until its sudden discovery in 2015, although it was filmed for TV. The band came into the limelight at the dawn of the folk-rock era, and "The Sound of Silence" became their big breakthrough in 1966. Even at that time, their live show was not decorated at all, and consisted of only one acoustic guitar and two vocalists. Paul Simon played both 6-string and 12-string guitars, and his guitar accompaniment was superb, with free control over tuning, and Art Garfunkel's clear vocals. This is a masterful performance that stands out because it is a simple performance by just the two of them. The recording lasts nearly an hour, which is an unbelievable broadcast time frame. Perhaps not all of it was broadcast. However, all 18 songs are included here in their entirety. The stage opens with "My Brother," an important song from their early years. The song is about the murder of a civil rights activist who was a friend of Paul's. The band then performed "The Leaves Are Green" and "A Very Different Man" from their second album. The band then performed "The Leaves Are Green" and "A Very Strange Man" from the second album, probably because these songs were written in England, where Paul spent some time during his unfortunate years. Then came "I Can't Wait to Go Home," the first song to chart in the U.K. from "Parsley Sage Rosemary & Thyme," his latest album at the time, and "Emily Emily," a beautiful song with Art's clear vocals, switched to a 12-string guitar. The finger picking of P. Simon and the harmonies between the two are exquisite on "World in a Dream". The live take of "7 O'Clock News/Kiyoshi-Kono Yoru" is a rare and almost previously unrevealed take, as it is accompanied by the announcer reading out the news, just as on the album. They also performed the popular song "Cloudy" and their latest singles at the time, "Winter Walk" and "At The Zoo. The final song was their biggest hit, "The Sound of Silence," a 54-minute concert that was a perfect fit for the two musicians, who were able to move at their own pace and breathe perfectly together. Hello darkness, my friends. Is the sound of silence still ringing? In the turbulent 60's and 70's, our days were with S&G. The tranquility of the concert is so impressive that it has been resurrected after 52 years. The Japanese explanation of the situation, episodes, and song titles of the time is included on the inside cover, and is from Eternal Grooves' "ROCK OFF" series!
