He is known for his outstanding achievements as a pianist and educator, having trained many pupils, including Annie Fischer and Georg Solti. As a composer, he left symphonies, concertos, and numerous chamber music works, which were rarely performed and forgotten. In the 21st century, however, some of his works have finally been revived, and people can now enjoy the romanticism and sensuality of D'Honanni's works. The two piano concertos are technical works that weave a wide variety of material, including Hungarian folk songs, into a stately atmosphere that evokes Brahms' influence. Gyurbadamova, who plays the piano, is a pianist born in Moscow and studied at the Gnesin Music School. She has studied Dhonani's works for many years and released a two-CD collection of his piano works (C5332) in 2018.
