This album, the sixth of his chamber music collections, combines two of his piano trios with the Violin Sonata No. 2. Originally a virtuoso violinist, Meiseder has performed under the direction of Haydn, Beethoven, and Schubert, and has left behind an impressive body of violin works. Although more than 900 of his works have been published, they are rarely performed today, which is why Raimund Richey, a violinist with the Vienna Philharmonic, took it upon himself to record all of Meiseder's works. The works are somewhat reminiscent of Schubert's, but the use of the violin is more technical, and the violin is given a more prominent role.
