Handel (1685-1759)

Description:

He is a strong man, but his singing is superb. Beautiful countertenor Xavier Sabata's collection of Handel's villainous arias There are many collections of Handel's arias, many of them sung by countertenors. However, this CD has a twist. All the arias are sung by Handel's enemies, avengers, and villains in his operas. Since a villain must be emotionally intense to be a villain, Handel's arias of villains are very appealing. The singer is Xavier Sabata, a countertenor born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, in 1976. In 2011 and 2012, he sang Ialba in Cavalli's "Didone," conducted by William Christie.Although he looks quite strong in the jacket photo, in reality he is a young man with a somewhat delicate impression that belies his stout physique. He has a beautiful and mellow voice, and you can enjoy the charm of a countertenor. Riccardo Minaj is a violinist born in Rome in 1978. He has played as a violinist in many orchestras of ancient music, and is also active as a conductor. Il Pomo d'Oro is a really new ancient music orchestra founded in 2012. Pomo d'Oro means "golden apple" and is derived from the opera of the same name by Cesti, which is famous in the history of opera. Their recording of Vivaldi's concerto cycle (naive OP30533) with Minaj's violin and conducting was extremely well received. This is a remarkable piece of singing, orchestration, and planning.I asked him about the reading of Xavier Sabata's name, and he replied that in Catalan it is pronounced like Sciavieee Sabaaaaata (when spelled in a deformed Italian style). It is true that in Catalan, the X at the beginning of a word is pronounced as Sya, and Sabata is usually accented on the ba in Catalan, whereas in Italian the accent is on the Sa. Based on this, I will write "Xavier Sabata" in Catalan. Incidentally, since he often works in France, he is often called Xavier by French people. King International
