Lugansky recorded this work in 1992 when he was 20 years old, and it is still highly acclaimed today, but he re-recorded it at age 50, 30 years later. The recording will be made this September 2022. However, it is not a dull performance, and one can fully enjoy Lugansky's first-rate artistry with clear fingerwork and thunderous, brilliant sounds. Rachmaninoff's \"Pictures of Sound\" was written at the same time as the Piano Concerto No. 3, and is an extremely difficult piece that brings together the best of his technique as a great pianist. It is also designed to make the piano sound at its most beautiful, making it a challenging piece for confident players.Lugansky said that once one masters Rachmaninoff's piano music, one becomes one with the piano to the extent that one cannot tell whether one's fingers are playing or the piano is singing to oneself. The singing is not at all sweet and gives a feeling of prestige. I am glad to hear Lugansky's performance of the three pieces that are not numbered.
