The six-title double CD series released by Eloquence focuses on the transformation of this violinist, who was reborn as the classical soloist \"Campoli\" after the war. This CD is the fifth in the series. Edward Elgar dedicated his violin concerto to Fritz Kreisler, and Campoli was Kreisler's extremely distinguished successor as a violinist with unparalleled technique and a popular touch that is the reason all audiences adored him.The recording of the October 1954 concerto is exceptional with the support of Sir Adrian Boult, the ultimate \"Elgarian\"; they also collaborated on Bruch's \"Scottish Fantasy\" in May 1958. All recordings in the Alfredo Campoli: Bel Canto Violins series have been newly remastered from original Decca sources. The artist and the pieces performed are described in detail in a new booklet essay by Campoli's biographer, David Tanley.
