String Quartet Collection Including World Premiere Recordings by Karl Weigl! Urania Records, an independent Italian label, presents a collection of string quartets by the late Austrian Romantic composer Karl Weigl, including the world premiere recording of his works. Weigl, who came from an upper-class family, was taught composition by Zemlinsky and studied composition at the Vienna Conservatory under Robert Fuchs. Weigl was a close friend of Schoenberg's, and he continued to play in the Romantic style throughout his life, following in the footsteps of Mahler. Ensemble Mark Rothko was formed in 2011 by a group of outstanding string players from northeastern Italy, whose members share a variety of professional experiences in chamber music, solo, orchestral, and teaching, promoting a wonderful repertoire rarely heard by audiences. Carlo Lazzari, Benjamin Bernstein, and Marianna Sinagra studied with the Italian String Quartet and the Trieste Trio, and have performed internationally as well as recorded on several major labels.They have been principal players in major Italian orchestras (La Scala in Milan, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Arena di Verona, Trieste Verdi Opera, Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra) and abroad as soloists in the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfonica di São Paulo He has been a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfonica di São Paulo, among others.
