A rare collection of works by the third Coupland, Armand-Louis! Armand-Louis Coupland (1727-1789) is the most famous member of the Coupland family after François Coupland (1668-1733 so-called Grand Coupland) and Louis Coupland (1626-1661). Louis was his grandfather's brother; Grand Coupland was the son of his grandfather's brother. Armand-Louis Coupland was an excellent organist and clavecin player, and although his name is well known, his recordings are often included in the Coupland family's collections of works, and his solo CDs are exclusively of clavecin pieces. However, Armand-Louis, who was born and lived in the 18th century, was only five years older than Haydn, and he had a pre-classical style, which is perhaps better expressed in this Clavissant Sonata with violin accompaniment than in the Clavissant pieces. The violin is never in the foreground, and the music is very fine as a complement to the clavecin. Liana Mosca is a violinist born in Zurich. She studied in Milan and Vienna, and after playing with the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchestra, she became a member of the Giardino Armonico in 1998.Now widely active as a baroque violinist, he used a violin made by Louis Guersin in 1760.
